Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung Mobile, Apple, etc are some of the big companies that manufactured and distributed locked or unlocked gsm phones to all the qualified users of the world.

Meanwhile, CDMA or Code Division Multiple Access uses channels as the access method. It employs spread spectrum technology and a special coding scheme is required to decrypt the digital message it contains. Countries like Korea and Japan uses CDMA in their radio communications technology. There is a great advantage of CDMA over GSM, since frequency band is more expensive than creating code, the implementation of CDMA technology costs less. The phones issued by the manufacturing companies have a unique code. CDMA phones or vodaphones can be converted to GSM by a lot of third party entities that hacks the phone by using software. Once converted, the CDMA phone can now operate through a wide range of network carriers. This becomes unlocked phones ready to make a move to enter the world of GSM.
