Guar gum is a popular product used in different industries like oil, food, textile, drilling, mining, pharmacy and animal feed largely because of its beneficial properties. It is referred by various names in different languages across the world like

Produced from guar plants endosperm, guar gum is a non-ionic viscous product extracted from guar beans. The seeds obtained from these beans are dehusked, milled and screened. The bi-products of this process are guar meal and guar splits. The refined splits obtained from this process are then subjected to pulverization process thereby resulting in production of guar gum powder.
It is mainly the thickening property of this carbohydrate polymer that makes it so popular for applications across various sectors. The most important application of
guar gum powder however lies in food and beverage industry. The thickening power of guar which is nearly 8 times higher than the regular corn starch makes it an ideal substitute of edible starch for use in preparations like sauces, dressings, milk products, and baking mixes. It is an efficient additive for products like puddings and ice creams. Addition of goma guar powder in ice cream will help retain its smoothness by preventing the formation of ice crystals.
Serving as thickener, stabilizer and emulsifier in baking applications, guar powder is a popular product used with gluten-free recipes. Due to its capacity for binding products, guar powder can replace lack of gluten in recipes and therefore can keep up the texture and structure of the baking products even with less or without gluten. Its water absorbing capacity will further enhance the life of the baked products.
In oil and gas industry, guar gum derivatives like hydroxypropyl and caboxymethyl gum are used for fracturing and well drilling applications because of water loss control, viscosity control, suspensions, friction reduction or mobility control offered by these products.
Textile printing is one of the popular applications of guar derivatives like depolymerized, carboxymethyl and cross linked guar. Addition of these products gives better color to the fabric by improving the penetration of dye into it.
To achieve thickness, conditioning, foam stability, softening and lubricity in cosmetics like hair and skin care products, cleansing and bathing products, derivatives of guar gum are often used in cosmetics industry. These are ideal products for use as binding agents in explosives manufacturing.
