Guide In Making Your Own Homemade Mattress

. However, even with the existence of information that can help us find the right mattress for our sleep needs, the right mattress is still quite elusive. We end up paying hundreds, even thousands of dollars, for mattresses we will eventually dislike.

The thing about mattresses is that it should always adjust to the needs of your body, not the other way around. If you are having trouble finding an ideal comfortable bed, try making your own. Here is a guide on how you can do that:

1. Purchase a good kind of down comforter. You can choose the type of fill you want. Choose cotton for the fabric. You can find high-end Egyptian cotton shell that can enhance the comfort your body feels when sleeping.

Try having your down comforter filled with latex topper with 1-inch thickness. Latex toppers actually cost less than the actual latex mattress. And more often than not, the topper provides more comfort than thick latex mattress. You can change the thickness if you want. It depends on your comfort needs.

Also choose the right density for the latex. Go for 3-4 pounds of density if you are suffering from lower back pain. This features the right comfort level for people suffering from pain in the lumbar region.

2. Purchase another layer of feather bed. This should not cost more than a hundred dollars. Feather balances out the semi-firmness of the latex. It will also give you increased comfort to the body. In addition to that, feather is more breathable than egg crate foams. Air can glide easily to disperse collected heat.

3. Use a platform bed. If you are not using a platform bed right now, have one custom-made for you. Make sure you cover the platform with vertical slats. Place them vertically over the platform and leave about half an inch of gap in between the slats. This is just enough to allow air to circulate without prompting mattress topper sagging.

4. Once you have already installed the down comfort and the feather bed, place a matted comforter on top and wool batting if you want it to be fire-proof. Wool is a natural fire-retardant material. You can wash the wool batting and matted comforter.

This homemade mattress is also easier to clean. Just disassemble it and vacuum the latex topper and you are good to go.
