oil level indicators, temperature gaugesand other standard monitoring is mandated by law. Having such a stringent law ensures the safety of the transformer.
How to Change the Oil in a Transformer
The process of changing oil in a transformer can be a cumbersome and challenging task. While changing the oil, its standard procedure to also check the transformer for any problems, and clean equipment before resuming operation. This is done in order to make sure there are no existing problems in the transformer. Additionally, this process aids in reducing build up in moisture levels, a leading cause of failure in transformers.

3.Begin by testing

4.After completing the test, its time to drain the oil by flushing it out. Its important to get as much of the old oil out as possible
5.Now replace the drain plug and fill the transformer with fire retardant oil
6.After 4 to 5 hours, recheck the insulation of the transformer,then leave the unit to sit inoperative for 12 15 hours
7.Check for visible leaks, after which you can turn on the transformer (without load). After charging for three hours, you add load to the unit. Make a final check for leaks, pressure and temperature to identify any deviations
