. The plant which is found in damp forests of Mexico is a powerful producer of hallucinations and other visions. Generally, the herb is not taken as a leisure drug. The fact that it induces dominant sense of consciousness in the subject makes it practical for religious and meditational experiments. The influences of this drug vary from the affects of any other drug, also, unlike many other drugs; the person opting to use it should have a thorough guide about the use of it.

Chewing, swallowing and drinking are few of the ways of ingestions of Salvia. But most of the people today prefer smoking Salvia above all the other methods not only because it is more pleasurable, but because it is more effective too.

To start with, the user has to either sit or lie down in a comfortable position and make sure that he/she is neither nervous nor scared to try smoking Salvia. A bong or a water pipe should then be filled with chilly water and the bowl should be filled with Salvia. Then the Salvia should be lit with a regular lighter and the smoke should be inhaled in with a deep breath, for at least 30 seconds. After the first inhalation, fresh air should be drawn in and then a second round of smoking Salvia should be taken on if the effects havent already started to overcome the user.

Although it depends on the amount of smoke the user has drawn in but usually it takes two to three inhalations for the drug to start taking its effect. And it would take nearly 30 minutes before all the effects are completely tapered off.

Smoking Salvia is a consciousness altering experience. Most of the people feel more fresh and clear minded after they have smoked it although, some people might also get prone to headaches if they are smoking for the first time. Since the main psychological effects that the Salvia causes are that of sharpening the senses of the user. Although the user may experience dissociation from his physical surrounding but he/she can easily embark on an unseen journey. Visions can be seen and hallucinations can be experienced under the influence of this drug.

This is the reason this drug is not used in the fun way that alcohol is. Its effects are either monitored for the medical purposes or are exploited in a healing of the self rituals. Salvia is tackled in a very sacred way. Since most of the users smoke Salvia for meditation, peace and silence it should be smoked in a very serene and calm environment.

Although Salvia is a drug but it is not illegal in most of the countries mainly because it is not alarmingly fatal to the health and the user is not prone to get addicted to it. There are little on no side effects of smoking Salvia. Moreover, its effects wear off in a few minutes at the maximum.
