When you first enter the game of EVE Online you find yourself surrounded by mountains of information. It's very hard to take it all in and keep it all in at the same time. I have layed out a few tips that will help you transition into a solid EVE Online player.
First, you want to move through the EVE Online Tutorial. Make sure you complete all the steps and learn why you are doing these tasks. Most people who bypass the tutorial find themselves light years behind everyone else when it comes to simple functions of the game. Learn all the hot keys and simple ways to sell and buy items, this will free up your time so you can complete other tasks.
Second, join one of the EVE Corporations. This will give you an advantage to players who fly alone. You will have people to come to your defense if you run into pirates or people who are hostile towards you. Plus you can learn a bunch of information about the game in a small amount of time. Most of the Corporations exist to help out the new player and get them ready to support and provide for a player ran Corporation.
Third, decide what you want to accomplish in the game before you get to far into playing. You don't want to start off as an engineer and then decide you wanted to play a miner, some of the occupations are similar in skills, but others are very crucial. You need to decide what you want to be and how you want to help out your corporation.
