Guide to FaceBook
Facebook is a social media networking site that in its infancy was more strictly
used for college students and was only available to users by invitation. Now though it has become a cultural phenomenon stretching across the globe. Facebook has an almost undisputable lead over the social networking sites available today.
Facebook's network is made up of a myriad of separate networks that can be based around schools, businesses, groups of friends, religions and regions. Although Facebook's registration is now open to the general public, the site still has its main focus on the college and high school demographic. This focuses on networking through groups and social connections. Facebook uses profiles to allow users to post pictures, comments, blogs and applications. Additionally, it now has some of the best privacy options available on the Internet. Facebook encouraged using its site to create and grow existing relationships with people that they already knew, or friends of friends.
Facebook has continued to improve their networking features as the site has evolved and grown to better serve the people who are a part of their site and to attract new members. Before Facebook was just a simple place for people with similar interests to network and keep in touch with each other. Now though they have incorporated all kinds of things for people to use and pass on to each other. There are options like apps, instant messaging, forums, photo tagging and much more.
Facebook can help create many lucrative ways in which to promote your business and to not take advantage of that would be a great loss. Also you can be pretty sure that if your competition does not already use Facebook in its promotional activities it is probably only a matter of time till they do and more and more businesses are considering social networking as part of their marketing plans, and the ones that already do and are successful at it realize the great potential it can deliver.
In closing, as with anything concerning advertising it has to be used in the right way in order for it to succeed. One of Facebooks greatest asset is in its low to no cost marketing capabilities coupled with its ability to reach a greater number of people. So you do not have to invest much more than your time to realize its potential. This alone is worth the effort to take it seriously and do not think that because it is free, that it is worth the time. Free is good.
