Individualizing your desktop or laptop computer home screen is always pleasant. But with dozens of preset wall papers to choose from, it still doesnt seem to be enough for those of us who like to, for example, change wall papers whenever the computer restarts. You will soon see that the wall papers your computer comes with arent sufficient to keep you ooh-ing and aah-ing for very long. Most of the images are pretty, but are vague and usually based on your operating system or any brand of computer it is you purchased. If you want more personalized wall papers then heres how.

The first thing you should know is that you can make any image file on your computer into a wallpaper. If you don t want any thing elaborate, just just a picture you have of you and your friends, you and your family or even you and a pet. Simply right click the image and select the choice set as desktop background. Minimize the windows you have open and voila! Your selected image is now your wallpaper.

If you prefer the choice of slideshows that was mentioned earlier. Simply create a folder in your existing pictures folder by right clicking an empty spot and choosing new folder. Name the folder with the theme of the pictures you will be adding to it for your desktop wallpaper slideshow. So for example, if you are a fan of music, and instruments in particular Guitars, you can call the folder Guitar Wallpapers. Now comes the fun part. Searching for pictures you want to use for the slideshow.

The quickest means of course is your favourite search engine. Keeping with our guitar fan, simply do a general search for guitar wall papers. You then have the choice of either surfing through the web sites that come up, that will range from art, image and shared image blogs and forums, to pay per image stores or sorting your results with the image option. If you plan to build a large slideshow filled with general images that meet your search, then begin with the image search. You will have pages of images that will be reasonably applicable to what you want. When you find an image you like, right click and hit save image as and then save it to the folder that you created earlier. Continue doing this until you have a collection of wallpapers that is personalized to your wants. If all you want is a single image, right click and set it as your desktop wallpaper

To create a wallpaper slideshow, right click on your desktop and hit personalize near the bottom left; choose the option desktop background. At the top of this new screen look for your guitar wallpaper folder with the browse choice. pick the folder and it will return you to the pervious page. Check all the pictures you want to include in the sideshow and then select from the dropdown menu how often you want the desktop image to change (15 minutes, on restart etc). You will have the guitar wall paper (or any other theme you pick) available for you to look at every time you look at your computers wallpaper.
