Gul Panag - Bollywood Actress
Due to frequent transfers of Gul father, by the time Gul completed her schooling
, she changed 14 schools which included Kendriya Vidyalaya, The Lawrence School Lovedale, she also studied in Lusaka, Zambia at the International School.
She pursued her BA in Mathematic from Government College for Girls. Gul did her masters in Political Science from Punjab University, Chandigarh.Entering Miss India Pageant, Gul won the Miss Universe crown in 1999 when she was still in her teens.
Before entering into Bolllywood, Gul was seen in music videos and many Ad films. She had also appeared in a Television soap named Kashmir(2003). Recently Gul was seen with Aamir Khan in a TATA SKY television commercial.
Gul made her debut in Parth Arora Dhoop (2003) where she played the role of Peehu Verma, the fiance of Captain Rohit Verma. This movie based on the storyline between 19992000 starting with the death of Captain Rohit Kapoor while defeating insurgents to capture Pt 4875 on the western side of Tiger Hill, Kargil. The movie was a flop at the Box Office.
Gul was then seen in JURM (2005) playing a supporting role of Sonia in movie against Bobby Deol and Lara Dutta. This movie also failed miserably at the Box Office. In the year 2006, Gul Panag was seen in movie DOR (2006), where she played he role of Zeenant, (one protagonist) who is determined to save husband life and this leads her to Meera (Ayesha Takia, the other protagonist).
The movie wasnt a hit at the Box Office but it was critically appreciated. Year 2007, saw Gul Panag in Manorama six feet under, where she played the role of Nimmi.
The movie which was a combination of crime, drama , thriller but the movie was below the average at the Box Office but it was critically acclaimed for its dialogues. Gul was next seen in movie SUMMER 2007, as Vishika , who plays the role of one of the five medical students who undergo a rude awakening after visiting a Maharashtrian village and witness the misfortune of villagers.
The movie was not a Box office hit once again but Gul received critical appreciation! In 2008, gul was seen in hello, as priyanka where she played the role of one of the employee at the call center and this movie was based on chetan bhagat one night @ the call center.
This movie also starred Sharman Joshi, Isha Koppikar, Amrita Arora, Sohail Khan and Sharat Saxena. In this movie, Gul also played a cameo role against Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The movie was gul first big budget movie and her glam look totally surprised the audiences and hello did fair at the box office as compared to her earlier movies!
It was in the movie straight (2009) where she plays the role of renu and got her lot of appreciation against vinay pathak, siddharth makkar. His Movie Was Not A Hit At The Box Office. Recently, Gul Panag was seen in movie rann (2010), against amitabh bachchan, reitesh desmukh, paresh rawal and sudeep.
This movie was again a Box Office flop because of the unappealing script and didnt do any wonders for Gul Panag as Amitabh Bachchan was in the spotlight. Hello darling (2010) was Gul next movie, where she played the role of Mansi, a career oriented young corporate woman who sheds exuberance amongst fellow co workers. The movie was a Box Office flop and so once again Gul was unrecognized. Gul next upcoming film is TURNING 30, releasing in 2010.
