Gum Disease Can Lead To Bone Loss

Periodontal disease usually can be broken down into 3 stages

. The first and earliest stage of the disease is gingivitis. Bacteria that establishes a population in your mouth is the cause of this disease. Sometimes this can be extremely hard to diagnose and realise that you suffer from it. The bacteria in your mouth starts to cause inflammation in the tissue surrounding your teeth and can eventually lead to bone loss. A main symptom of this is where pockets begin to form within your gums where bacteria can populate.

Periodontal disease is extremely common and is the second highest widespread disease that people suffer from around the world. Periodontal disease can effect anyone in any part of the world, but this can all be prevented with a good oral hygiene and regular visits to the dentist.

In the instance that you notice early signs of periodontal disease you should immediately make an appointment at the dentist. Early signs include metallic taste in the mouth, pockets in the gums, bad breath, receding of the gums, or bleeding and swelling of the gums, especially when brushing.

Chronic periodontitis is the most common and the most damaging type of gum disease that can form within the mouth. Chronic periodontal disease can actually begin during childhood but commonly not show any signs of the disease until adulthood.

The final type of periodontitis is particularly nasty as there are commonly no early warning signs. Symptoms that may occur within your mouth even though very slight include a change in your bite, sore gums, bleeding gums especially when brushing, abscesses forming upon the gums, and your teeth becoming loose. It is not constantly present. It also may only occur in spots in your mouth and not throughout your entire jaw, but if it were to occur it can be very painful and hard to treat, so it is definitely best to treat them early.
