Remember to disassemble all gun pieces before cleaning the weapon and applying gun kote. Some people will want to skip this process but remember that disassembling your gun is very important so you can see the parts that really need cleaning. Remember that carbon, oil and grit build up can ruin or stall your gun and it could cause your performance in the shooting range or it may even cause a loss of life when there is a real danger.

Have acetone handy with you at all times. Some dirt and carbon can't be eliminated by wiping with rags alone so for the tougher stains try using acetone. If you use the acetone in removing the dirt properly, the acetone can also help in making the gun kote finish look better.
