If you want to own a gun in New York City then you need to know and follow all of
the guidelines -- otherwise you will not be allowed to have a gun license in NYC. There are permits for different types of guns like hand guns, rifle and shotguns.
You must appear in person with your notarized application fill out plus your application fee or it will not be accepted. In New York City the application fee is $340 for hand guns and $140 for rifles and shotgun fees. They also charge a finger printing fee that cost $94.25 for either hand guns or rifles and shotguns even if you own one prior to the law you must still go and have a finger printing done.
To obtain this you must have on your application your arrest history plus any convictions that you may have. Failure to place something down and if it is found out it was not disclosed you could get your application denied. You can also be denied for certain arrest history that you may have. Finding out all of the guidelines might be helpful in knowing a head of time what arrests in your past or present that does not qualify.
Some other things that might disqualify might be a history of domestic violence, DUI's of alcohol or drugs and poor failure to pay your fines. If you have lots of violations on your driving record you could be disqualified also. There are many things they consider before approving an application.
Law-abiding citizens that know all the rules and guidelines in obtaining their permit should not have a problem in getting their license. Once they obtain it then following all the rules and laws that go along with owning a hand gun, rifle or shotgun is important or they could get their license revoked and possible not get it back.
