H Pylori or Helicobacter Pylori is a harmful microaerophilic bacterium which inhabits

in the stomach underneath the mucus layer and infects the region causing diseases like gastritis and peptic ulcer. And if the ailment is let to recur or left untreated, the patient may also develop stomach cancer.

Symptoms

Kids may have nausea, stomach pain and may be seen to vomit frequently. At the stage of acute infection even the adults show similar kind of symptoms. But at the chronic stage, adults are likely to feel a burning pain in the stomach and/or heart. The exact area of abdominal pain is above the naval and below the ribs. The pain may worsen if the person keeps the stomach empty for a long time. Patients suffering from peptic ulcers may also develop ulcers that bleed. In such cases the patient is likely to have black or reddish stool or brownish vomit. Younger children may not show any noticeable symptom at the first stage. But if the child complains of any kind of stomach irritation, a doctor must be consulted immediately.

Scientists suggest that H Pylori is contagious. Thus the treatment begins by examining the family history of the patient. An overall physical check-up is must. Tests like that of blood, stool and breath indicate and confirm the acuteness of the ailment as well as the type of diagnosis required. A biopsy may also be conducted for testing cancerous growths in the stomach cells. Medication mainly includes prescribed antacid doses. Untimely food habits, poor diet and spicy consumption are the main causative agents of the H Pylori infection.

Tip#1: Go for 5-6 short meals divided equally through out the day. (adults and children)

Tip#2: Children should be made to rest for a short time after the meals.
