HOPE collaborates with Human Concern International (HCI) to provide emergency relief aid

HOPE (Health Oriented Preventive Education), an NGO in Pakistan, has been working actively to provide relief to thousands of flood affectees since the floods began in 2010. Working with its partners, HOPE has distributed emergency relief goods such as food and shelter items. Moreover, medical assistance has been provided to thousands of flood affectees through almost 75 mobile medical camps.

One of HOPE's major partners for the flood relief project is Human Concern International (HCI), a Canadian based organization. HCI collaborated with HOPE to provide medical assistance and relief goods to flood affectees in Sindh, one of the worst hit province.

HOPE began the relief distribution and medical camps on October 28, 2010 in Miyani village, Matyari. The HOPE team distributed food and shelter ration, and conducted medical camps, where 323 patients were treated for illnesses included diarrhea, skin infections, and gastroenteritis. Though the floodwater had receded substantially, the flood affectees were found to be living in tents, under miserable conditions. Between October 31 and Novemeber 2, HOPE reached out to two more places-- Allah Bux Choliyani and Ghabbar Massan, both in the district of Qamber Shahdat Kot. The HOPE medical team treated 329 people in Allah Bux Choliyani, and 337 people in Ghabber Massan. Relief ration was also distributed in both villages. Similar to the situation in Miyani villages, the residents of Allah Bux Choliyani and Ghabber Massan were living under poor, unhygienic conditions and were in desperate need of emergency relief aid. With few organizations working in the area, HOPE provided much needed relief aid to the residents of these villages.
