HTC Wildfire - An Ideal Option For Social Networking Fans by:Chris Westley

During the last few months, HCT has released several new Android Smartphones

. One of them is the HTC Wildfire, similar in many ways to the Desire, however it is more compact and includes some additional features.

Appearance wise, the HTC Wildfire is quite similar to the Desire, the main difference being its compact dimensions and more rounded edges. It also has a slightly "softer" appearance thanks to the latter, and is finished in a unique soft touch material. The Wildfire is also impressively lightweight at 188 grams.

Within the 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreens pixel resolution of 240x 320, up to a whopping 16M colours can be displayed. This gives The HTC Wildfire serious power when it comes to displaying colour rich content and graphics, such as photos and video, and also helps when viewing Flash based web content. A handy accelerometer sensor allows auto rotate of the screen, whilst an optical trackpad offers an additional means of UI navigation.

The highly customisable HTC Sense UI, which is also found in the HTC Desire and Legend, allows users to customise their homescreens to a high degree. By selecting custom widgets and Apps, users can make the homescreens as functional or attractive as they wish. Up to seven homescreens can be assigned, allowing the potential to set one up for seven different scenarios or locations, such as work, games, or social networking, or news and weather.

Vibration and ringing provide the means to alert users to incoming calls and messages. MP3 files can be assigned as ringtones should users wish to customise the sound of the phone, and this option allows users to hear the song of their choice anytime the phone rings. A handy speakerphone system allows users to carry out handsfree calls with the minimum of fuss, whilst a 3.5 mm audio jack allows the use of handsfree headsets or earphones.

The HTC Wildfire provides decent internet access and browsing. In areas covered by 3G, an HSDPA connection provides speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps. Wi-Fi offers a faster connection thanks to local wireless networks where available. In order to connect to cellular networks, GPRS and EDGE are called upon whilst Bluetooth and micro USB allow connection to compatible hardware devices.

A 5 MP camera is also included providing loads of options both for the serious photographer, and spontaneous snapper. The ability to shoot video provides an alternative method of image capture whilst an LED flash overcomes the obstacle of low lighting conditions.

Whether you are looking for a versatile camera phone, a powerful media player, or a social networking device, the HTC Wildfire should be at the top of your list.
