There seems to be a rush of HTC phones off late as the mobile phone manufacturer revealed the maximum number of phones in the recently held Mobile World Congress. HTC Wildfire S is the new kid in the block along with several other handsets such as ChaCha, Salsa, Incredible S and Desire S. What sets apart Wildfire S from the rest is that the device is a mini phone with some powerful features that is being targeted towards the budget conscious buyers.

Over the last couple of years, HTC handsets such as Desire, Desire HD, Wildfire, etc. were quite successful. The company is trying to maintain that success rate by introducing these new handsets. With HTC Wildfire S being the most affordable Android smart phone in the lot, it has a good prospect to succeed. However, the device has been only announced officially and the release is expected to take place by the end of second quarter 2011.

The original Wildfire was one of the successful affordable Android handset of 2010, and this year the company aims to carry forward the legacy with Wildfire S. There are certain enhancements in this new model in comparison with the older version. The display is a bit better with 320 x 480 HVGA (Wildfire had 320 x 240 QVGA resolution) and it has the support of Android v2.3 Gingerbread.
