Hair transplant have become modern phenomena around the world

, hair transplant process is used to grow hair on head where there are few or none at all, the process involves surgery in which hair follicles are moved where hair are dominant to place where there is baldness or thinning of hair. Hair in modern day world has become symbol of health and beauty, it is said any person health can be judged from amount and quality of hair on head.

In order to understand the reason for importance of hair transplant we need to understand that it is linked to excessive and irreplaceable loss of hair ,this loss of hair is effecting both men and women across the globe , in men it causes either loss of patches of hair , baldness ,loss of hair along forehead ,the major causes of hair loss are stress , protein mal nutrition , thyroid ,arthritis , attack by immune system on hair follicles ,medication like bromzopane , hair mistreatment by individual by themselves due hairstyling , not washing hair frequently etc .

They are two process involved in hair transplant strip harvesting and follicles unit extraction. In strip harvesting anesthesia is used to extract scalp, then this tissue is cut into grafts and transported to area where thinning is taking place. , the wounded area is sutured and long hair will cover the area .the recovery in this process takes two weeks and stitches have to be removed by medical staff.

Follicular Unit Extraction is the most common types of hair transplantation, this process involves anesthesia is used for removal of hair follicles in dominant area and then transported and inserted in the area where hair line is thinning or bald. Microscopic blade is used for removal and insertion of follicles , only small scars are created unlike in strip harvesting where wound needs to be sutured , none is required in this process, only small punctuate scars are created and pain is minimal . Recovery time for this process is seven days.

While history of hair transplant dates back to nineteen century but modern techniques where developed in Japan in 1930s but not for the treatment of baldness. During 1950s dermatologist Oreintreich began experimenting use of grafted hair from donor area to affected areas, he believed that these grafts will grow in same way on recipient area as in donor area. Walter P .G presented donor dominance area asserting that hair in recipient area will grow in a same way as in donor area regardless of whether process was strip harvesting and follicles unit extraction, this theory became the basis foundation for hair transplant.

Initially there was minor success only few areas of head were plugged but as the time passed the size of graft became smaller and with the introduction of ultra refined follicles unit extraction the surgeons grafted fifty hair follicles per square centimeter. These day"s surgeons place more emphasis on angle and orientation of grafts insertion.
