Halitosis And Bad Breath Symptoms

Decaying food remnants and bacteria are the primary causes for bad breath

Common symptoms visible in Halitosis patients are an off-white yellowish coating on your tongue, post-nasal dripping secondary to sinusitis, metallic or sour or bitter taste due to hormone level imbalance or chemotherapy, acute streptococcal tonsillitis coalesced with white patches, and a dry mouth known as Sjogren's syndrome. No amount of dental flossing, brushing or mouth-washes are going to help in this socially unnerving syndrome.

Bacteria begin to concentrate on a high scale in the saliva, which inhibits evaporative symptoms instantaneously. Lack of saliva acts as a catalyst of foul odor emission and is at its most repulsive. Subsequently, acidosis takes place resulting in tooth decay due to demineralization. This disorder is acid-based homeostasis, which means an overload of acid in the mouth and normally defined by the pH value falling well below 7.35. Such an atmosphere strongly generates oral bacteria. This syndrome is diagnosed by the patient having a metallic, sour or bitter taste in the mouth.

Acute streptococcal tonsillitis that have, over a period of time, accumulated ensconcing white patches are another cause of bad breath. These white patches are in the form of nodules and emit smelly odors from the mouth.

Continuous drug use, dependency on insulin, post-nasal drainage secondary to acute sinusitis, improperly done dental transplants, oral bacteria and gradual reduction of saliva in the mouth are major causes for bad breath and dental diseases.

Halitosis should be nipped in the bud. If ignored, you will be susceptible to a host of oral and dental illnesses. No, medicines or drugs will not cure it. Research its underlying causes, study the situation thoroughly well, and come to a conclusion as to what exactly is causing this unwanted foul smell emanating from your mouth. Act now, and take care that you do not lose your self-confidence, social connectivity, friends and self esteem in the process. The adage goes that: 'An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away'.
