The 31197R Hamilton Beach CounterTop Oven, 2 tiers, with convection and rotisserie is one great kitchen appliance. It has cooking capabilities that make it as useful as the regular oven. Along with the smaller size to heat, the convection function creates energy conservation on this appliance.

Metal scouring pads should not be used when cleaning the oven. Pieces can break off and possibly create sparks when the oven is turned. A few safety precautions are always important. The oven should never be operated without the slide out crumb tray in place to prevent crumbs and spills from touching anything electriccal. The glass door is made of fully tempered safety glass, but can still break. However, if it breaks, it will be in small pieces and not large pieces.

Depending on thickness of food or the temperature used, convection cooking can cook foods up to one third shorter time. If the recipe doesn't say it is for convection, remember that the time or temperature must be adjusted when using convection.

The functions of bake, broil, convection, and rotisserie are set with an easy to use dial. The temperature knob goes up to 450 degrees and it has a timer knob of 120 minutes with a stay on feature.

There is a slide out crumb tray and included with the oven are: 2 oven racks, 2 baking pans & broil rack, and rotisserie kit with rotisserie lift. The rotisserie can accommodate meat roasts or a whole chicken up to 5 pounds in weight. When not using the rotisserie, meat items up to 7 pounds can be done in the oven.

This oven has a large interior which can hold a 6 muffin pan, or two 8x4 pans, or 9x5 pan, or two 8" pans, or two 12" pizzas, or most 1 & 1/2 quart casseroles.

Odor and smoke are normal during first use. Food can take on that taste unless the oven is heated empty once before cooking in it.
