Toronto, Canada GAO Fiber Optics (www.GAOFiberOptics.com) is offering its rugged handheld visual fault locator which is commonly used for troubleshooting of both single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables. It is suitable for fiber optic network maintenance in telecommunications and CATV systems.

This rugged handheld visual fault locator, model C0280002, is able to examine all kinds of patch cords, ribbons or bunched pigtails in the installation and maintenance of fiber optic networks. With its rugged design, a universal connector and accurate measurement, the visual fault locator detects breaks and micro-bends through jacketed fiber and easily performs end-to-end fiber identification.

This fault locator can also be used for locating break points which are beyond an OTDRs capability. It offers wavelengths from 640 to 660 nm. It is compatible with optical connectors including FC and Universal 2.5 mm adaptors. Its measurement range is up to 5 km. Its spectral width is less than 5 nm. In addition, it boasts an operating time of 30 hours with a single charge.
