Following Last Time Out Winners In Handicap Hurdle Races
Last time out winners go on to win about 22 % of the time on their next start. It makes financial sense to lay them especially at odds on prices. Over the course of the year you usually find around three to four hundred such runners. If you are to lay such selections your profit can be very good. During the selection process we are going to be using the Racing Post Race Card.
Historic Result Based Selection Process:
Here are a few simple rules to follow for this system to work:
Rule 1: Go through today's Race Card and note all Handicap Hurdle Races
Rule 2: Find Favourite's which "Won" their races last time out.
If the Favourite has not won its last race, look at the next horse in the betting.
You will normally find only horses which have won LTO are in the top 2-3 places in the betting forecast, this is obviously down to the fact that they won their last race and recent form has enabled them to command a shorter price.
Rule 3: Next we need to head over to Betfair to check the Lay price for any qualifying selections. Make sure the Price is not over 5.0 on Betfair.
Additional Hurdle Race Rule's To Consider
Stick to laying selections within Handicap Hurdles Race's, avoid Novice Handicap Hurdles or Chase races.
Look for horses who have won their last start within the top three of the Racing Post Race Card, even if the price is higher than 5/1, just make sure you check the current price on Betfair as this may be lower than the Racing Post Tissue Price.
Our maximum Lay liability is 5.0 for peace of mind it pays to lay at a lower liability.
There will be plenty of lay opportunities especially now the National Hunt Season has started so you don't need to take any unnecessary risks with high liability.
Important: If there are two or possibly more horses like in the first example shown, who both have won their last outing and the price to lay either horse is within our guidelines, you can either split your stake and lay both horses or lay the shortest price selection. This is entirely up to you. Ignore any horse outside the top three on the Race Card even if that horse has won it last race. This certainly won't happen every race, but you may come across such races every so often.
