copy X:i386
tfs.sys D:windowssystem32drivers
This done, your Windows XP system should work fine, unless some other problem has been causing this kind of problem.
In such a situation, you will have to format the drive, and reinstall the operating system. However, the data that is lost will have to be replaced with the help of updated backup.
