Handmade Soap: How To Make Your Own At Home

If you were to take up a hobby, wouldnt you want to do something that would actually help people

? At the very least, wouldnt you want a hobby that would contribute towards your health? Or better yet, wouldnt you want to do something that would save you money (both in terms of medical bills saved and direct earnings from sales of your products)? Well, if you have answered yes to any of these questions, then you are in luck: have you ever thought of making handmade soap?

The soaps that you see on the shelves of your supermarket are mass-produced ones. And if you only knew the chemicals that went into these soaps and what they could actually do to your skin, you would swear off of them this instant. But we will leave that for you to find out and just let you know that more and more people are swearing off of them and are turning to using handmade soap all-natural and all-healthy.

Instead, let us see how you can make soap at home. Below we will see the steps needed to make glycerin melt and pour soap.

Buy the best-quality soap base, fragrance or essential oils, some colourants and a soap mould that your budget allows.

Get your hands on a scale for measuring your ingredients preferably an electric one for added precision.

To make a basic bar of soap, you will need to cut the soap base and measure it to fit perfectly in your soap mould read the instruction that comes with the mould to find out exactly how much it holds.

Using short intervals, and with extra caution, melt the soap base in a plastic container. You can use your microwave oven. Make sure that it doesnt boil. Be careful when removing the soap base it will be hot.

Gently stir the soap base to avoid a skin forming on the top of it and until you see no steam coming out of it.

When the soap has further cooled down, add the colourant and continue to mix it in. Next, add your fragrance oil. The steam will dissipate the fragrance, so make sure there is no steam. And keep mixing.

Gently pour the base into the soap mould to make sure that no bubbles form. (Tip: if bubbles do appear, you can spray it with rubbing alcohol to make them go away).

Leave the soap to air dry while it is still in the mould. The time it takes will vary depending on the ingredients that you use, the size of the bar of soap and thickness and/or type of mould that you have used.

Once it is hard enough, gently pry the soap out of the mould.

And voil! You have just made your own hand-crafted soap that is totally skin-friendly. You can now start working on some more for you own consumption or as a very thoughtful gift to a loved or dear one.
