. Eero Aarnio, the creator of the hanging bubble chair is one of the best examples of this technique.

Aarnio is often quoted as saying, "design means constant renewal, realignment and growth." Aarnio embraced the spirit of the colorful 1960's with bold, exciting designs which included the "womb chair" and "egg chair". Like most of his iconic furniture, the hanging bubble chair is both versatile and durable. Some would argue that it is not built for comfort, but instead gives a room an instant identity.

Aarnio is considered a kind of genius for his work with acrylic and plastic. In fact, his inspiration for some of his chair designs come from everyday objects. The hanging bubble chair, for example, was based on the dome lights he saw in Paris.

He completed the initial design of the hanging bubble chair in 1968. It included a metal frame shaped like a bubble. Aarnio then sought help from a plastics manufacturer. He was curious to know if plastic could be blown around the shape of the frame. Thanks to the ingeniuty of Aarnio and the manufacturer, the hanging bubble chair was completed.

Eero Aarnio said that it would be impossible to design a pedestal beautiful enough to complement chair. It was then that he decided to simply hang it from the ceiling so that light could filter into its interior.

The hanging bubble chair not only provides a private area to listen to music or read, but is also commonly used in museums and libraries. Most interior designers know that adding one unique accessory is essential for any room. This chair certainly gives any room that "wow" factor and will become the focal point of any room in your home.
