, Lower Saxony. It is believed by the locals that Hannover means high- bank, a name possibly derived due to the River Leine that flows past. Almost the entire city has been rebuilt after the massive destruction it faced during the Second World War. Thus, even though the roots of Hannover run deep into the medieval era, most of its architecture and structures are of more recent times. The town has evolved into a well-known host destination for exhibitions and fairs, whilst also housing many museums, theatres and shopping areas.
