Hardwood Flooring - Why You Should Use One
"Because we are at a time when the world is experiencing abnormally high temperatures
, otherwise known as the greenhouse effect, we start getting to know eco-friendly materials in the hope of being able to help in saving our planet. Eco-friendly materials are those that are manufactured through a process that does not add to the destruction of the environment or ozone layer. And one such eco-friendly material we can use is hardwood.
You may think because it's hardwood that it came from a tree and of course, cutting down trees is anything but eco friendly. However, hardwood came from forests that are controlled by the government. The regulation is that when a tree is cut, one must plant three to five trees in exchange.
Compared to cement manufacturing, the process of making hardwood is even more eco friendly. Why? It's because when a tree is cut down, it can be replaced while the ingredients in making cement can't. Plus, the amounts of gases expelled from the manufacturing plants of cements add to the destruction of the ozone layer. Plus, creating cement takes a lot of processes and electrical energy. The fragments left in the process of making hardwood are mixed to create plywood, thus, there's no waste. Because hardwood is very durable, it will surely last for a very long time. This kind of wood is even resistant to termites. Treated or untreated, this wood will be compact and hard enough to survive termite attacks.
Unlike other kinds of wood, hardwood does not require a lot of maintenance. All you have to do is polish and wax it. Another benefit from using hardwood is the prevention of electrical grounds or fire caused by grounded wires since this wood isn't a good conductor of electricity. The children in a house that uses hardwood are safe since it's safe and non abrasive.
Consider using hardwood when you renovate your house. It may cost you a little more than other alternatives but it also offers a number of advantages that you won't find with other flooring materials. Aside from giving your home a touch of elegance, hardwood is also termite-resistant and, therefore, durable. Most of all, when you use hardwood, you are helping save our planet.
