Kya chaiye tereko?, questions a prostitute

Kya chaiye tereko?, questions a prostitute. Aapke kothe ki sabse mehengi r***!, answers a battered and betrayed Kaavya, played by Paoli Dam, who is one of the three reasons other than sex and Gulshan Devaiah that will pull audiences to theatres.

Controversial and shocking from the word go with blatant sexuality and over-the-top dialogues on offer; Vivek Agnihotris erotic revenge saga Hate Story finally hits the theatres. But unfortunately, the 'sexual built-up' made by the promos doesn't translate into 'natural erotica' but mechanical sexual acts triggered by director's "action."

A plot that was almost revealed in the promos, leaves little to imagine for the viewer. Hence Vikram Bhatts partly engaging story mirrors the tried and tested vendetta formula of the 70s and 80s, with the only exception that this one is far too tantalizing and sexually vocal.

Hate Story is the tale of a journalist Kaavya Krishna (Paoli Dam), who exposes a business empires scams and scandals. Result? She becomes an eye sore for the stinking rich business tycoon, Siddharth Dhanraj Gir (Gulshan Devaiah), who uses her and throws her. Now, starts the journey of brutal reprisal. And a simple journo becomes the biggest r@^&*i of the town, who uses her sexuality as a weapon to f$*k everyone who f$#ks with her.

With revenge motive at helm, Hate Story could have been an intriguing affair; if everything that the protagonists intended had not come their way as easily as knife in cheese. Sub-plots like framing the CEO (Joy Sengupta) to detective rigging Kaavyas house with cameras and the same dawning upon her with no difficulty shows the lack of homework on the part of scriptwriter.

Considering the plot, its agreeable that Kaavya has to put her body on offer at every step that takes her closer to her mission. But it has been executed in a hurried manner that appears to be morefocusedon finding chances to show another sack session and grab eyeballs than adding meat to the story. While, the first half goes in putting the story in motion, it is in second half that narrative catches pace and grips you. But thats only till you hit the climax, which written with an intention to surprise you ends up like an unnecessary sub-plot. However, Director Vivek Agnihotri, of 'De Dhan Dhan' fame has shot the eroticaaesthetically without making it looking sleazy.

Talking about performances, Paoli Dam, who was known for her nude act in Bengali film Chatrak before she stunned Bollywood audiences with her hot-bod, needs to polish her acting skills. In fact, her orgasmic breathing was over-shadowing her acting in a most of the scenes. (Read about her naked screen test?) Gulshan Devaiah of Shaitaan and Dum Maaro Dum fame does an impressive mean act as an aggressive business man, who stammers when confronting his father. Nikhil Dwivedi is the only positive character. He was decent in whatever little scope to act he got. Mohan Kapoor and Joy Sengupta are balanced, while Iravati Harshe is wasted.

Musically, the film doesnt have much to offer, though songs fit the situations. However, the exceptionally good background score deserves special mention. Dialogues of the film range fromludicrous stuff like, "Chuhiya ke daat sher ke daanton se tezz hote hai par taquat toh panje mein hote hai"to cringe worthy outrageous lines like, Take it, Shake it and Fake it.Cinematography is good, especially the camera angles used in the opening credits.

India's first erotic thriller, might be erotic but it definitely fails to thrill. So, watch it only if you are a fans of revenge sagas, skin-show and Paoli Dams hot-bod, else just Take it, Shake it & Fake that you like it!
