The headstock

Carriage

The lathe's cutting tool is stabled by the carriage, providing the worker liberty to do his work. There are five different components known as the compound rest, saddle, the apron, the tool rest, and the cross-slide that build the carriage. The parts work in coordination with one other to help and direct the cutting tools into the accurate position.

Tailstock

Lathe machine has a central mechanism that is attached with the wooden piece or the metal is kept in a stationary position by this part named tailstock. This centre can be turned along with the wood. The rotating devices are powered with the bearings that permit movement of it.

Spindle

The spindle included in this machine has three configurations. All these three are co-related with each other. Cam-lock spindles slides into a ring of similar holes and contain cam studs on one end. When you turn the chuck key, the studs will be locked into place. The tip of this tapered spindle is narrow headed.

Cutting tools, finishing tools and spear

Many cutting tools are used for giving different shapes to the metal, wood or glasses. Round chisels and small spears give them intricate finishing. Finishing tools are best for buffing the wood because their rounded-off ends prevent them from slicing any more material than needed.
