It is the capital of Texas and the 4th largest city in the state. The unofficial slogan for this city is "Keep Austin Weird."

With a slogan like that, there definitely has to be something of interest there. In fact, Austin is actually full of plenty to do.

It is also about an hour from San Antonio, which also has plenty to offer visitors. So plan a trip to the south and make sure Austin is on your list of cities to visit.


Wondering what to do there? Well, let's start with the awesome array of museums.

The Children's Museum is a great place for kids to learn while they play. Children will solve problems and be creative in this hands-on environment.

Next up is the Lyndon B. Johnson Museum. Learn all about this past U.S. president and what happened during his presidency.

This museum happens to be one of the most visited presidential libraries in the country. Another interesting museum is the Texas Military Forces Museum.

It tells all about the history of the Texas military from the first militia to modern day. The Blanton Museum of Art is located at the University of Texas.

One popular tour is the Austin Duck Adventures. This fun tour wanders through downtown and then heads onto Lake Austin.

You will literally drive through the streets and then splash into the lake, all in a big tour bus! It is a fun tour for adults and kids alike.

Another interesting tour in the city is the Austin Ghost Tours. Visitors are shown haunted areas and are told ghost stories from the past and the present.

One last place to tour is the Texas State Capitol. With its beautiful architecture, it is one of the most recognized state capitols in the country.

If you have children, Austin is a great city to visit due to its attractions geared towards children. The Nature and Science center is a great spot for all ages.

Everyone in the family will enjoy workshops and learning more about the pre-historic age. The kids may also love visiting the Zoo in this city.

More than 300 animals are situated in the beautiful hill country for all to see. Kiddie Acres is a fun amusement park and mini golf course.

It is a great spot for kids 10 and under. One last great family spot is Goin Bananas Playnasium.

Your kids are sure to have a great time. If you love the outdoors, take a trip to Daybreak Golf Park.

This park has mini golf, streams, and fountains. It is a great spot to play or relax.

It is a fun spot to take a stroll through. The Umlauf Sculpture Garden is another interesting garden to wander through.


Take a tour or visit during one of the special events. One last outdoor attraction is the McKinney Falls State Park.
