Have The Perfect Wedding Without Breaking The Bank
It is very easy to get carried away when planning your wedding
. Your wedding is the one occasion when it is easy to go overboard. Money that would be better spent on buying a house or finalizing your school loans can easily disappear in its hundreds and thousands. Weddings are a multi-billion dollar industry, offering everything any bride could want. But you don't need to break the bank to have a fantastic wedding day.
Think Small
You've got your notepad and pen, and you've started listing names. You write down your immediate family and friends, but you don't stop there. After about ten pages you're trying to remember the name of the girl who sat next to you in third grade. By this stage, it isn't even that you particularly want to invite her. Or even remember her. But you've listed people that she knows, and you would hate for her to feel insulted.
Trimming the guest list is the best and first place to start when you are operating within a budget. If you don't invite everyone that you know, don't worry. They won't be insulted. The majority of people will understand that you are simply watching your expenses, and will wish you all the best. They may even be happy to not be included. A wedding is a big expense for the guests too. They have to pay for presents, formal clothes, and babysitters. And if one of your distant friends, relatives or acquaintances do feel insulted or snubbed, they will get over it. Either that, or you're probably better off without them anyway.
Think Discount
Another way to save is to not pay retail. There are plenty of discounters that sell very nice wedding dresses and other formal attire at reduced prices. It may have always been your dream to walk into an exclusive boutique and have a bevy of seamstresses draping you in layers of satin and lace. However this is a dream that very few of us can afford.
If you are careful, you can still find a dress that makes you look and feel like a princess, but without having to pay such a hefty price. You can always spend some money on tailoring to make sure your dress is just right, and still have plenty of money left over for things that are more important. You can do the same thing when organizing your shoes, hair, makeup, flowers, and all of the other details that go into making your wedding day perfect. Let other people pay retail.
Think Green
Another way to trim your expenses is to think green. In many cases, organic and recycled materials are more expensive because they are popular. But by utilizing recycles items, you may be able to save quite a bit of money on your wedding. For example, if any of your friends or relatives have been married more than once, they probably have an attic stocked with dresses that they've worn only once. If the dress has been in storage for a while, chances are that the current owner won't have any sentimental feelings about it either. Through the expenditure of a lot less money than a new dress would cost, and the expertise of a good tailor, that recycled dress can be made to look like it was designed for you right from the start.
