Have You Been Told The Truth About The Great Depression?

I didn't realize just how much Greenspan and Ben Bernanke had destroyed America until I visited a thrift store recently.

I remember the good old days when things at a dollar store actually cost a dollar. This was in fact why they were called dollar stores. I realize you are not dense, but this is kind of a critical point. A dollar store was called a dollar store because everything at a dollars store had a price of one dollar.

That was before Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke created trillions of dollars, literally right out of thin air. That's around $6,666 per American, and there are 300 million Americans. Hardly surprising that prices rose.

It's infuriating. Prior to Bernanke, I could grab 14 goods in a dollar store and be sure they cost 14 dollars. These days I need a calculator.

People no longer understand why, but our Founding Fathers were adamant about having honest gold backed money. Today the dumb herd thinks that gold money is bad, and this would sadden our Founders and make them shake their heads. Gold money means that the dollar is by definition a fixed weight of gold, silver, or some other precious metal. This also means that if more dollars are printed, more gold must be obtained to back those dollars. Someone who printed more dollars but didn't have gold to back them was committing fraud, and faced criminal charges.

This gold money mechanism limited the ability of government or banks to print money. To print more money, you had to mine gold first, and that requires actual work. Thus the chief virtue of the "gold standard" was that it kept government from inflating the money supply. Inflating the money supply is printing more money, increasing the supply as if inflating a balloon.

FDR confiscated all privately owned gold during the Great Depression, which resulted when Britain printed pounds far in excess of gold. It knew it would eventually face demands for pounds it didn't have, so got America to inflate its money supply, decreasing interest rates, which cause depositors to move gold to Britain seeking higher interest rates. The extra money printed was pumped into the stock market, creating the boom that caused the Depression here.

The run on the pound came anyway, Britain said up yours and shafted the world, refusing to redeem pounds for gold, and plunged the world into the Great Depression. When the run on dollars came, U.S. banks didn't have enough gold and had committed the same fraud, so FDR just confiscated all privately held gold. Problem solved. That was the end of our Founders' honest money, the beginning of rampant price inflation, and of huge corrupt government that can just fund itself by printing money. When paper money is not backed by a commodity at a fixed rate, you can print it indefinitely. Especially when all money is computer entries, and money doesn't even have to be printed, but can be conjured with one click of an enter key.

The average American has never been told this true version of the Great Depression. They don't demand honest money because they don't know what honest money is. So I'm stuck at a thrift store paying $2.00 for a bottle of coke that used to cost $1.
