Have You Ever Considered An Eco-friendly Party?
If youre concerned about the environment, there are many things you can do
. From
arranging a boiler service online , to using energy-efficient shower heads, you can certainly play your part but what about taking things one step further? Eco-friendly parties are all the rage at the moment, so why not give one a go? Heres how:
Send out recyclable invitations
According to Paper Life Cycle,
paper is by far the largest component of solid waste in landfills and this has high economic and environmental costs. Luckily, most of this paper can be recovered and reused, but its important to make people aware of the problem in the first place. To do this, send your party invitations on recycled paper and ask them to pop each on into a recycling bin when theyre finished with it. You wont change peoples attitudes overnight, but at least youll open their eyes hopefully.
Think about transport
Before sending your invitations, think about how everyone will get to the venue. Can you arrange a car pool? Perhaps arranging a minibus would be more economical. Once youve decided, include a suggested journey plan in your invite and ask people to respond as soon as possible. This might seem like a lot of extra work, but grouping people together and cutting down on transportation will save fuel and your guests are sure to appreciate the effort.
Buy eco-friendly decorations
Believe it or not, you can decorate your house without harming the environment. Sites like
Little Cherry supply a host of eco-friendly party supplies including biodegradable balloons, compostable ribbons and beeswax birthday candles and will help your house, hotel or hall look fabulous. There are also a wide range of economically sourced wooded toys online, so if youre looking to make party bags, these could be ideal.
Serve organic food
Lets face it; food is one of the most important parts of any party. A good spread or a gourmet meal is what most people look forward to, so think about your menu carefully. If youre throwing an eco-friendly party, make sure all your food is fresh, organic and locally sourced and knock up a whole array of mouth-watering treats. It costs more to important good from around the world, so try to visit the village butcher or the nearby farm shop if possible.
Turning your lights off when you go out,
calling a plumber to fix a leaking tap and lowering your heating can make a big difference to the environment but an eco-friendly party is the icing on the cake.
