Have you got your time managed?

Nowadays people always seem to be running everywhere

. There is never enough time to do everything; always rushing around, trying to reach deadlines. Usually by the end of the week we are exhausted and require the weekend to recover from our hectic schedules.

Whatever happened to lazy Sundays? Enjoying family time, having large Sunday lunches and then relaxing with a walk in the outdoors or watching a good movie? Sundays now seem to be days spent catching up with the laundry, grocery shopping, so that we are organised for the week ahead.

The weekend can be as busy, if not busier than the weekdays. Family life, shopping, socialising, visiting elderly relatives can all add up to a very busy couple of days. Seeing our own friends can mean late nights, lots of alcohol which, come Monday morning may mean we are tired and possibly grumpy at work! An endless time spent filling in our time with things to do, people to see and places to go.

Does this make you happy? If so that's great but I am sure there are a large proportion of people who are not that happy living their lives like this. To be honest I didn't have the time or the inclination to stop and even ask myself that question. This was just life and what everyone else in my world was doing, so it must be okay, right?

To have the courage to step out of the hustle and bustle and look at my situation objectively was very hard to do. Running around like a headless chicken trying to keep everyone else happy just stopped doing it for me. What about me and how I felt? I was forever tired, had headaches all the time and if I did stop and rest, I just wanted to curl up in bed and sleep! Know the feeling?

I started to ask myself if this was benefiting me in any way whatsoever and of course the answer was no. Did I have my time managed? No, time was managing me! My body was telling me to stop, by giving me migraines and sickness. So finally I did.

My boys were growing up and becoming more independent by this time and I started to look at the way my life was being run and how I was feeling out of control most of the time. Hence the feeling of illness, as this was the only way I could allow myself to stop. Ridiculous I know, when I started to look back and realise this was what I was doing to myself.

As we get older, I believe we all slow down naturally, and take stock. Unfortunately, sometimes this can be at the expense of our health or for many, a serious illness.

Time goes by regardless, so is it not better to go with the flow of nature? I still manage to do all the necessary jobs and chores but now realise it isn't worth stressing over something if it isn't completed by a certain time, as this only brings me stress.

Re-evaluate, reorganise and try to allow yourself time for You'. If you are happy and free then everything around you will reflect happiness and freedom back to you. Sorted!
