Having A Good Relationship With Your Boss

A good working environment is instrumental to the success of an organisation. There are two classes of people in an organisation, the superiors and subordinates. Ideally, the subordinate who is the employee takes instructions from the superior who is the employer and at the same time, the boss. For some reasons, workers find it difficult to maintain a healthy relationship with their bosses and this is detrimental to the realisation of organisational goals. There are many reasons that have hindered a lot of cordiality in terms of operation between employees and employers. Sometimes it is as a result of lapses on the part of the employee and sometimes, the employer. It could also be from both sides which makes the both of them guilty of the crime. As an employee it is your responsibility to ensure a good relationship between you and your boss. Your boss is in charge, so you have to go an extra mile to please him/her. This article gives yu tips on how to go about it.

1. Punctuality: Punctuality is an important quality of a good employee. This deals with the issue of when the worker reports to work. You should ask yourself these qquestions and answer them genuinely: Do you always come to the office when you should or after the time of resumption? Do do you go out for coffee lunch without returning at the appropriate time? If you are guilt of any of these, it's high time you stopped it because every boss likes someone who takes his/her job seriously and is available when needed.

2. Respect: Like they say, respect is reciprocal. It is the bedrock of every relationship. Regardless of someone being your boss, courtesy demands that you respect people regardless of their age and educational background, so make it a priority to always respect your boss. Remember, he/she helps to put food on your table by paying you your wages at the end of the month. A sincere show of respect gives your boss a good impression about you and makes him/her assist you even outside the office.

3. Be willing to learn: People admire those who accept that they don't know something and are willing to learn it. It's a sign of humility and seriousness. When you are confused about an assignment, feel free to ask your boss for direction. This will make him/her believe that you respect his/her opinion and you are willing to learn from him/her. Learning from your boss creates a good relationship between the both of you even outside the office.

4. Mingle: As an employee, you should be willing to mingle or associate with other workers, including your boss. Feel free to relate to others in your office otherwise you might be seen as somebody who is pompous or have bad intentions and nobody wants to have anything to do with someone who is not accommodating in a working environment. Negative reports about you will send negative messages to your boss and might make him/her dislike you.

5. Diligence: Commitment to your duties matters and creates reliability. Once you are seen to be committed to the goals or aspiration of the organisation, your boss will be attracted to you and this will enhance mutual relationship between the both of you and ultimately bring about promotion or reward to you. Work wholeheartedly like it's your own establishment and your commitment will certainly be appreciated by your boss.

Having a good relationship between you and your boss isn't as difficult as you think it is. All you have to do is to understand the reason why you are in that establishment, which is to ensure maximum achievement of goals and work effectively to it.
