Healing grief should only be undertaken when someone gets stuck in the process of healing. Grief is a perfectly normal and natural emotion to feel after the loss of a loved one.

The problem is that children are not brought up to experience grief in a healthy way. Instead many children learn that the only way is to swallow it and get on with life.

So as adults, they do the same thing. Eventually the grief will become so overwhelming, many will break under the strain. And so depression sets in.

But if children were, not only allowed to grieve, but encouraged to, they would be able to diffuse each situation as it arises. And that would not only prevent a build up, it would also teach them how to deal with grief in a healthy way.
