I read an article in Business Week and I was delighted very concerned about the future of medicine in the United States. I am an advocate of universal health care and the article gave me hope that our country in this direction. Medical costs The health care problem in America is getting worse. A large percentage of the GDP in our country is spent on health care and this proportion is increasing annually. This risingMedical costs are the deterioration of the health of our country. Our poor health is weakening America, both physically and economically. Health care costs undermine the profit margins of all American companies. This erosion of profit margins are making it difficult for American companies to compete in a global market. Fixing the problem We can decrease the costs in this country by: * Promote the prevention andScreening * Promoting weight loss in two thirds of Americans are overweight * Eliminating the inefficiencies in hospitals and healthcare information technology * The provision of a universal plan, all Americans, financed by taxpayers Universal Health Care A universal plan would eliminate the problem of the uninsured. There are 43 million Americans without health insurance. Their lack of health insuranceincreases the costs for all Americans. The uninsured are less likely to get the prevention education and disease screening they need.
