Diwali, a festival of pomp and festivities, sweets and lights is round the corner

. It is also the same time which plays havoc with our health upon negligence. So take a little time out of your daily schedule and give yourself that festive glow.

Follow these simple tips to look your best during this time of the year:

SERVE AND CONSUME FRESH FRUITS AND NUTS: If you have a sweet tooth, then this tip is especially for you. During this time, due to enormous demand, sweets laden with artificial colors, adulterated Mawa/Khoya swarm the markets. These look very tempting and it is excruciatingly difficult to control your taste buds. An excellent alternative to these spurious and hazardous sweets is fresh fruit. Eat oodles of fruits, serve your guests with fresh fruit juices, fruit chaat and fruit salads this Diwali and you will see for yourself how light and good you feel. Also, take some nuts moderately as these are very good for your skin and hair.

FOLLOW A STRICT SKIN CARE RITUAL: During this time, our skin has to bear the brunt of excessive air pollutants and smoke due to the fire crackers. So it is imperative that you take special care of your skin. For daily care, cleanse, moisturize and tone your skin with home made products. Use scrubs and masks for exfoliation. Never leave home without applying a protective coating of a cream or a lotion like Calamine and Aloe Vera. Never sleep with your make up on.


TAKE CARE OF YOUR EYES AND HAIR: You will realize that your hair becomes lifeless and frizzy during this season, again due to extreme air contamination. So use a bandana or a scarf while going out. Do regular hair oiling and massaging.

Due to the particulate matter in the surroundings, make sure that you protect your eyes from their impregnation. Wear glasses when outside and use a medicated eye drop to feel refreshed. Lastly, rinse your eyes regularly with fresh and cool water.
