Healthy Eating - How Environmental Synthetic Chemicals Affect Weight Gain
The oyster thinks the foreign body is an enemy so begins coating it with nacre - A substance oysters make. The oyster continues adding layers over the foreign body and will continue doing so over the life cycle of the oyster.
The end result is a perfect natural pearl ready to be added to a Necklace, earrings, broach or other piece of jewellery.
The oyster would have perhaps the best natural healing and protector of any animal species.
I wonder if the human body works in the same way?
We are bombarded with countless chemicals in our day to day life. Some we can avoid, others we don't have a choice. Some toxic chemicals made and used around the middle of last century are still dominating the environment even though they were discontinued several years ago. The negative health effects of these chemicals are known today. It is also known that these chemicals have caused lasting teratogenic effects on humans over the past 5 or 6 decades.
Even some of the currently "safe" synthetic chemicals we use in agriculture, food preservatives, artificial flavourings, cleaners, cosmetics and personal care items can do damage to the human body even if that damage is only minute or not recognisable.
Synthetic chemicals - those not found in nature - act on humans and other animals like a foreign body to an Oyster. The human body is incapable of eliminating all the chemicals from its system so the body has to react to them in a fashion similar to the oyster and its production of nacre.
When our body detects a chemical load it reacts by producing fat cells in which to store the excess chemicals in. The more chemicals the body has to deal with, the more fat cells we produce.
We slowly begin putting on more weight, which often requires us to consume excess food - adding to the chemical load and increasing fat cells.
We then go on diets to eliminate the excess fat, but we continue feeding our bodies with the chemical load. It's almost like we are unloading passengers from the bus via one door and reloading it from the other.
While this is not true of all people, those susceptible to chemical loads that are finding weight control an issue, may find assistance eliminating certain chemicals from the body.
One way of doing this is to look for Certified Organic produce when you go shopping. Read the labels on the products you use daily. If the ingredients sound bad they probably are. You should consider further research into the chemicals in the things you use in your everyday lifestyle and consider how they could be preventing or hindering your attempts at maintaining a healthy weight.
