. How did I do it? By not falling into a common trap we all follow: thinking that depriving myself of food was the answer. It's not. In fact, in my case, I consumed more calories once I understood what to eat.

There are simply too many rapid weight solutions causing confusion, and more importantly, lack of long term results for healthy weight loss. We often think illogically about being over weight, acting on emotion instead of facts. Creating healthy eating plans for weight loss that you can make into a repeatable and everyday habit is not difficult, you just need to understand the steps to follow to get into the right mindset. In short, you need to understand the stages of deprivation, education, and motivation.

Embracing healthy eating plans for weight loss does not mean deprivation in your diet. You can have carbohydrates in your diet, provided they are the right ones, and still lose weight. Bad carbs are things like refined wheat flour, foods we eat everyday and are found in bread and pasta. What are the right carbohydrates? Fresh fruits and vegetables are the best. Your body needs carbohydrates, so work more of these into your daily diet routine. Continue with your existing diet, but add more of the good carbohydrates in to make the transition easier for you when you begin to remove unneeded foods from your diet.

Education is the critical second element needed in creating healthy eating plans for weight loss. Long term weight management, including weight loss, is not about tracking calories, or low carb diets. Educate yourself on the whole, natural foods you can have in your diet. I am a big fan of organically grown food, but you don't even have to eat organic to see benefits. Just don't give up everything at once and start eating steamed broccolli and brown rice. That won't succeed and you won't keep off the weight long term. Find the right natural foods that taste good to you, and then gradually remove less optimal foods over time.


The last component in long term healthy meal plans for weight loss is motivation. I have personally experienced this in dieting. Once you start to make longer term changes and drop some weight, you will gain momentum. A new cycle will emerge. One of continued, healthy weight loss. And when you step onto the scale and see the reduction in pounds it will motivate you to continue the process of healthy eating.
