Healthy Office Furniture, Try It!

Have you noticed how many of your co-workers or employees complain of health problems

? And have you noticed how much of these complaints are all linked back to the office, specifically their work area? No, it's not the place, nor is it other people working in that area. It must be the furniture.

Just a clarification, there is nothing wrong with any furniture you put in the office, but it is the effect of the office furniture to the workers that must be assessed, considered, and corrected. The productivity of the establishment is based upon the performance and efficiency of the workers. Therefore the less sick workers you have, the more advantageous it is for the establishment or the business.

What could promote health when talking about furniture? Chairs and tables come in first. Depending on what the person's job description is, the chair must be comfortable and good for the back. A slack posture could lead to backaches and speed up tiredness in the person. Also a chair that makes the back completely straight, as though it is against a wall is also too tiring for the person.

Usual offices have desk jobs equipped with a computer and some paperwork to be done. Therefore a computer chair is very much advisable, it is comfortable, its height can be adjusted, it has wheels to make 'sliding' to the nearest part of the office convenient and it has a well engineered design which is definitely good for the back. But of course, this depends on the job you have. Just remember, whatever it is you are doing, the secret is in the back posture. With good furniture, you won't be going home feeling exhausted and drained.

Next, we have tables. The width of the desk may affect the functionality of the furniture, but it's the height that affects the health of the person. Desks that are too high may cause the person to become strained, whilst desks that are too low may cause neck pains for the person, as well as back pains. The desk must be just the right height so that the person will not feel strained. Computer tables, on the other hand, are also important.

When using the computer for a long period of time, it can be straining for the eyes. However, cases might get worse if the person has to angle their head up or tilt it down just for them to see the computer screen. The best position for the computer screen is to be near eye level and the keyboard must be not too high or low either. It must be angled somewhere between the person's stomach and chest when seated.

Office furniture can be tricky, but its affects on a person's productivity all lies in the way it is positioned and designed. So sometimes, trendy furniture may look nice and pretty, but you may first want to check its comfort and design,it should be health-friendly that's important and means you will be meeting the Health and Safety at Work Act.
