Another reason for heartburn can be the slow movement of food through the stomach, which promotes the production of excess acid. Slow motility is caused by poor food choices, and it can also result in acute diarrhea.

Long bouts of diarrhea can cause dehydration which is life threatening.

It is not uncommon that heartburn comes in company with a range of other digestive problems. And though they might not be by acid back up, eating and the absorption of nutrients can still trigger a bad reaction from the digestive system. To overcome a digestive system imbalance and not take medicines to overcome the problem, a proper diet may be all that's needed. Eating more fruits, grains, lean meats, vegetables, and drinking a lot of water may be all that it takes to correct digestive issue and feel better.
