Heavy Graphical Website May Kill Your Website Seo Rankings
Do you need far too many graphics on your web site
? Are you aware that your graphics may be killing your search engine rankings? How? Let me explain.
You see, the search engines appear to need improved on their algorithm over the years, but the fundamental principles still remain the same. Let me ask you a question. What does the search engines do fundamentally? It searches for information and tries to provide the most relevant info. Isn't that right?
So these search engine updates are really just tweaks. Simple tweaks to the algorithm so as to return the most relevant web pages to the search people. Your job, as a web business owner, is to ensure that you give the search engines what they are looking for. In return, you will be rewarded with higher search rankings.
What do graphics need to do with all this? You see, graphics take up a huge part of a web site. Having a few relative images on a web page may spice up the content. But if you insert too far too many images on a web page, you are really confusing the reader. Not only will you confuse the readers, the search engines will also discover it harder to determine the relevancy of your content. When that happens, other web pages will achieve higher rankings as those pages are deemed more relevant to the search phrase. Your rankings will drop. Surely, you dont want that to happen to your sites. So what can you do to prevent that? Here are a little great tips. Remember, it's all about relevancy.
Tip 1: Choose a title that accurately describes the content of the page. Never pick a title that says one thing and then write about a totally unique topic. That will just create more confusion for everyone. Be as specific as you can. For instance, if your article is about traveling in Italy, then make sure the content catered to travelers intending to travel to Italy. If your article contains 5 important tips, dont mention in the title that the article only has 2 tips.
Tip 2: Use Meta keywords and description in your HTML code. I realize this is not a HTML tutorial. But Meta tags are still important from the perspective of the search bots. The search engines still look at Meta Tags to determine the topics of a web page. Just a couple of lines and your sites will be deemed as search engine friendly.
Tip 3: Use clean HTML code in your template. dont make if difficult for search engines to discover the "meat" in your web pages. For instance, avoid printing texts using Javascripts, Flash, or Java. Just use static texts. Also, your links should be static text links as well.
Tip 4: Finally, avoid heavy usage of graphics. I recommend using just one (or maximum two) images as a decorative piece on a web page. Usually, more images are just not necessary.
