Hebrew is taught in a number of ways around the world. One school which teaches intensive Hebrew is known as the Hebrew Ulpan. These are core Hebrew schools where advanced teachings in the language of Hebrew are given. Hebrew Ulpan is nothing but a classroom or a studio which gives extensive Hebrew teachings or instructions. These classrooms are interactive and have a teacher to guide you.

This Hebrew Ulpan is mostly taken in Israel where people come in from different countries to learn the original form of Hebrew. Hebrew is still the official language in Israel and is thereby the most obvious choice of place for learning Hebrew. Ulpan is more migrated people who want to learn Hebrew. Hebrew Ulpan not only teaches the students the language and usage of Hebrew, but also gives a deeper knowledge about the origin of the language, its histrionics, etc. Most Ulpan also give a background depth of the Israeli culture and its history and geography. Hebrew after all was originated in the land of Israel, so the country's background forms a basic module of starting the teachings in Hebrew Ulpan. This is also because of the reason that most of the students at the Ulpan are immigrants and have no knowledge or little knowledge about Israel or Hebrew.

Hebrew Ulpan is a good school for learning the depths of Hebrew language that you could learn nowhere. This is because Ulpan lectures are taken by expert professors and teachers in the field. The new citizens in the country can learn about the language from the very own experienced scholars in the Ulpan. The need and emergence for Ulpan arose soon after Israel was formed. This was because most of the people in Israel at that point of time were not fluent in Hebrew. So Jewish missionaries took it upon themselves to teach the immigrants Hebrew and thus set up Hebrew Ulpan.

Hebrew Ulpan still exist in many parts of Israel, but modern day Ulpan are now only for foreign nationals or the people who want to learn more about Hebrew deeply. The teaching methodologies and language instructions in Ulpan is now being adopted in the various language teaching schools across the world. The teaching and learning methods at these schools are very intense and hardcore. The study material and the lectures are very direct and at the completion of the studies most immigrant students have a fluent and good command over the language. Hebrew was never considered an easy language to learn. But enrolling at a Hebrew Ulpan would ensure you learnt at a good pace and came out with a command over the language.

So if you indeed have a very strong interest in learning Hebrew and don't want to learn in a distance learning mode, but want to attend a real classroom, Hebrew Ulpan is the best option for you. You may have to fly in to Israel for that but it surely would be worth the effort.
