All of this has had an impact on Americas food production and consumption patterns, and it shouldnt be surprising that America devouts more tomatoes than any three of four other countries combined.

With food prices reaching terrifying heights and money getting scarce, people are growing more of their own food not as a hobby, but as a necessity. Planting a good crop of heirloom tomatoes is a wonderful way to achieve a degree of food independence.
