Help And Care Care For Those With Dementia
Over the next month an elegant afternoon is in store for residents at an Alvechurch
care home next week when their dining room will be transformed into a Ritz-style tea room. Staff at Grosvenor House Care Homes, in Aqueduct Lane, Coopers Hill, will be putting on The Ritz on Tuesday as a special treat for residents.
Harpist Meredith McCraken will visit to provide soothing background music while residents enjoy their afternoon refreshments and staff at the home, owned by Alpha Care Homes, will serve up afternoon tea dressed in traditional Ritz-style aprons and hats.
Grosvenor House manager Mark Brunner said: The prestigious London hotel is famed for its afternoon tea and we thought our residents would enjoy the experience.
The dining room will be transformed with fresh flowers and crisp white table-cloths, and well be dressing up to serve up the delicious afternoon treats. Well be dishing up cakes and cucumber sandwiches with their crusts cut off.
Our residents are really looking forward to the event, and especially hearing music from harpist Meredith McCracken, who has never played here before. It should be a lovely afternoon.
Also last month, Residents at Tutnall Hall Care Home, in Tutnall, will be hoping for a triple word score when they mark National Scrabble Day later this week.
Residents and staff at the home, owned by Alpha Care Homes, will take part in team Scrabble games with a difference on Friday. They will be using a special 6ft square board to challenge each others word power.
The giant board, along with giant letter tiles, mean the games will be enjoyed by all from the home.
Activities coordinator Gillian Squance said: Our residents enjoy taking part in team games and Scrabble is an old favourite.
With our supersize board, everyone will be able to keep up with the action as the game unfolds.
I am sure we will have some good-natured competitive fun between our teams. We will have to wait and see who comes out victorious.
