Help At Hand To Collect Parcels Too Large To Fit Through Letter Box
Frustration is one of the emotions we may feel when arriving home to find a sorry you were out card from The Royal Mail in our letter boxes.
The company has now responded to complaints from customers that it is often very difficult to collect parcels during office hours as they are in work.
Perhaps the parcel cannot fit through the letter box or maybe it has been sent through the recorded delivery service- regardless of the reason, Royal Mail has now pledged to offer more convenient delivery office hours for customers to allow them to collect their parcels.
Mike Brown, fulfillment director hopes this will help ease the inconvenience for those people who are at work during the day and who return home to find their letterboxes empty.
He said: This investment will help people who are not at home during the day to receive their item in cases where it is too big to go through the letterbox or needs a signature.
Over 200 delivery offices will now open until 8pm on a Wednesday and 2pm on a Saturday, with a further 350 due to offer the service over the next few months.
It is now hoped that more customers will be able to collect their parcels after work when discovering they cannot fit through the letter box or that need a signature.
And as part of its modernisation programme, Royal Mail hope that up to 650 delivery offices in total will soon be able to offer this service making the process more convenient for customers.
Some people who do not want to visit the collection office may also choose to have the item redelivered to their home address on an alternative day, or there is also the option of collecting it at a local post office however some of these services may be subject to an additional charge.
