Help To Pass Your Driving Test
Taking a driving test is something that you don't usually do on a frequent basis
. For many of us it is a circumstance only ever encountered once or twice. For an unhappy few it can become a more familiar situation.
New situations tend to put us upon "high alert". We don't know what to really expect or how we will respond. Even if you have taken a test before, and failed, this kind of familiarity does not help, as the associated memories do not tend to be very positive.
Thus the majority of people going into a driving test do not tend to feel at their most relaxed and comfortable. If anything they feel a little tense or on edge. Some people are more prone to nerves and anxiety than others. The way in which this emotion is displayed varies from one person to another, but the symptoms can range from breathing rather quickly to shaking or sweating.
These feelings and symptoms are not conducive to being able to perform to the best of your ability. In fact they set you upon a course to perform well below your normal level of competence.
If you have booked your driving test then let us assume that both you and your driving instructor feel that you are ready to pass and that you are a competent driver. You have practiced all of the necessary maneuvers, you generally feel comfortable behind the wheel, you know the laws relating to the road, and so on.
You are not nervous because of worry over your driving ability. It is just the fact that it is a test. It is an unusual circumstance. It is unfamiliar. You will be judged. These are the aspects of a driving test that cause anxiety and tension.
Logically you know that there is nothing to worry about. Logically you know that YOU aren't being judged; your driving ability is being judged. But how you feel emotionally and your logical thought processes do not always coincide.
And so what can you do to help yourself to get your emotions to move onto the same page as your logical thought processes? What can you do to make yourself feel that this situation is familiar instead of unique?
Mental rehearsal is the key here. Whatever you imagine you create. What you need to do is to visualize yourself driving with the instructor in the car. Visualize yourself sitting relaxed and comfortable behind the wheel, responding to instructions easily, smoothly, calmly and competently. Use your imagination to pave the way to your success. See yourself in your minds eye executing every maneuver beautifully and easily passing your driving test.
This probably sounds too simple. But it is all you need to do. Hypnosis will make the process even easier and very much more effective as it allows you to access your subconscious mind. This is the part of your mind where instinctive and automatic thoughts, behaviors and reactions are triggered. Thus with hypnosis you can embed a naturally relaxed and calm approach to your driving test deep within your subconscious mind.
This use of hypnotic suggestion and visualization will make the unfamiliar feel familiar. It will work to change your emotional reaction and allow you to remain calm, relaxed and confident throughout your driving test.
