Though it may seem like a hassle to take your dog on a walk around the block in the midst of a big move, the familiar routine will be comforting and will help your pooch to stay calm.

Create a familiar area in your new home. Pets are automatically attracted to the familiar. To make your new home as comfortable as possible early on, set up a special area for your pet with their bed, toys, and food and water bowls. You may want to help your pet acclimate to their new space by playing, petting, and cuddling with them so that they begin to recognize that they can relax in their new home.

During a major move, its important to prepare for the worst when relocating with a pet. Make sure to keep a photo of your pet with you to use in the unfortunate event that they get loose and run away from home.
