Herbal Remedy for Herpes: PDG Found in Antiviral Supplement Gene-Eden Reduces Infection

Recently, researchers discovered that PDG (prodelphinidin B-2 3'-O-gallate), a key ingredient in the antiviral supplement Gene-Eden, may be beneficial against the herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2).

In the United States, 16.2%, or about one out of six people 14 to 49 years old have genital HSV-2 infection.

Research scientists at the Kaohsiung Medical University in Taiwan have discovered that PDG, a compound found in green tea has anti-viral properties. According to their research, PDG "was concluded to possess antiviral activity with mechanism of inhibiting viral attachment and penetration." Their research also found that PDG greatly reduces the strength of the virus and is effective in "disturbing the late stage of viral infection."

Gene-Eden includes green tea extract, which contains PDG, in addition to four other natural antiviral ingredients: quercetin, licorice, cinnamomum, and selenium. According to these papers, they can kill the herpes virus, human papilloma virus (HPV), the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), the hepatitis virus, and influenza virus.
