Here Come The Cyborgs

Most of us are aware, perhaps uneasily, that there is more to cyber technology than meets the eye and that it is undeniably progressing at an ever-increasing faster rate in back laboratories around the world. In fact, the overwhelming evidence is that if we manage to avoid nuclear war, famine, and plagues, humanity will soon be in for a huge overhaul.

We've all heard that bodies are machines. Oddly enough, that is remarkably true and the human body is not special from other life forms on earth in terms of pure physicality. Nor, perhaps ominously, is it that different in principle from our invented mechanical machines, other than in complexity.

We would note that organic structures made from cells contain DNA, a mysterious strand of code that no machine could ever have. Yet, despite this, a robotic arm properly perfected will serve not only just as well but even better than a real one. It turns out that we don't need to have DNA everywhere in our bodies to retain our humanity, and that as you read this we already replacing human parts with bionic ones and implanting computer chips into brains, eyes, and limbs. And these aren't pacemakers we're talking about here. This is cutting edge stuff: welcome to the cyborg age.

So what does the human body have in common with robotic machines that will make nearly all of this fantastic revolution possible? Electricity- the body runs on it, a fact that the Chinese discovered ages ago. Couple this with computer chip advancement, and it won't be long before humans are not just replacing parts of their body for health reasons; they will do it for power too. We are about to go super human.
